Nalgonda: Telangana State Commission for Schedule Castes chairman Dr Errolla Srinivas on Sunday said that the Buddhavanam project at Nagarjuna Sagar would help in propagating the principles and teachings of Gautama Buddha. He inspected the works of Buddhavanam project and planted a sapling on its premises.
Speaking on the occasion, Srinivas said that the principles and teachings of Gautama Buddha should be emulated by everyone in the world to lead a peaceful life. He reminded that the Buddhist sites in Telangana were severely negligected by the previous governments in united Andhra Pradesh State. After formation of Telangana State, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has instructed the officials for the protection and development of Buddhist sites. Buddhavanam would attract Buddhists as well as tourists across the world, he added.
The Commission members Vidhyasagar and Neela Devi were also accompanied Srinivas during his visit to Buddhavanam.
