Food poisoning suspected at UPS in Khammam’s Penuballi, six students fall ill

Six students reportedly fell ill after eating breakfast at a Government Upper Primary School in Uppalachalaka village of Penuballi mandal in Khammam district on Wednesday. They were served upma and chutney and later shifted to Penuballi Government Hospital for treatment.

Khammam: An incident of suspected food poisoning occurred at the Government Upper Primary School (UPS) in Uppalachalaka village of Penuballi mandal in the district on Wednesday.

Six students reportedly fell ill after having breakfast. The students were served upma and chutney. The breakfast, which usually arrives at 8:30 am, arrived at the school at 10:30 am on Wednesday.

The students, Bommakanti Naveen, Enumula Manoj Kumar, Chekkilala Shivakeshava, Oruganti Naveen, Enamala Sravanthika and Bommakanti Udayashree, from Classes 4, 5 and 7, were shifted to Penuballi Government Hospital, where doctors treated them. The students’ condition was said to be stable.
