Sangareddy: Following the massive increase in agriculture output, the State government has decided to set up a food processing zone in 250 acre of land in Andole Assembly constituency in the district.
Since State formation in 2014, agricultural output, particularly paddy, has been increasing year-on-year in the State. Sangareddy district too has witnessed the same trend with paddy production doubling in the district compared to previous year.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekar has also instructed officials to ground the works of Sanagameshwara and Basaveshwara Lift Irrigation Projects which will provide irrigation water to 3.84 lakh acre that will further enhance agriculture production in the district. Though the revenue authorities have already identified 250 acre of land in Lingampally village of Munipally Mandal and Venkatapur villages of Kohir Mandal, the irrigation department observed that the proposed Sangameshwara Lift Irrigation Project passed through the area.
Finance Minister T Harish Rao instructed the irrigation, revenue and industries departments along with the elected representatives to make a joint visit to the place to get clarity. Otherwise, officials should identify 250 acre of land along NH-161 or NH-65 in Andole constituency, Harish Rao said during his visit to Sangareddy on Wednesday. Pointing out that the government was willing to pay compensation to landholders, he said they can also identify 125 acre of land in two different places along these important highways that pass through the district.
Underlining the importance of identifying land banks as early as possible, Rao said the place must be well connected to these highways. The government will set up paddy processing units initially since the paddy production had increased manifold in the State during the past seven years.
Speaking to Telangana Today, MLA Andole Chanti Kranthi Kiran said the food processing zone will create employment for hundreds of youth directly and indirectly. Since the proposed lift irrigation projects will lead to increased agricultural output in the next couple of years in Sangareddy district, Kranthi Kiran hailed the Chief Minister and Finance Minister for initiating steps to create demand for agricultural products which will eventually benefit the farmers. The MLA said that he will work closely with the officials to get the works completed.
