Hyderabad: The opposition BRS has lashed out at the Congress government over the Miss World pageant event held in Warangal, condemning the insult to Telangana women who were made to wash the feet of contestants. Former Minister S Niranjan Reddy termed it as a grave insult to the people of the State and demanded an unconditional apology from the government.

Calling it the culmination of Congress’s misrule, Niranjan Reddy stated, “This is not just an insult to the women involved, but to the dignity of entire Telangana society.”

He said when the country is at war on one front and farmers are suffering on another, the government is busy shutting down shops in Charminar for catwalks and making Telangana women wash feet of beauty pageant contestants. He said the pageant yielded zero benefit to Telangana, while the government continues to ignore those who truly need support.
