Hyderabad: Former Indian international and Telangana State football team coach Shabbir Ali was honoured with the Pride of Telangana Achievers award in sports category at a colourful function held at the HCC Novatel, Hitec City on Tuesday.
The veteran Indian footballer and the Dhyan Chand awardee was recognised for his services to the Indian and Telangana football. He has been serving as the chief coach and manager of the State football team since January, 2017. He is also running Abbas Union Football Club, from which he was also a product. Along with coaching the State team, he also trains students in under-10, 13, 15 and 18 years age categories. He also opened his football academy Shabbir Ali Football Academy (SAFA) this year and he trains underprivileged kids for free of cost.
