Adilabad: The Forest Department extended an immediate relief of Rs 10,000 to the kin of Kodapa Laxman who was gored to death by a wild boar in the forests of Rajuluguda village in Utnoor on Tuesday.

Utnoor Forest Divisional Officer Revanth, in a statement, said the department had released the immediate relief and the same was handed over to the wife and children of Laxman from Kadiki village in Narnoor mandal.

He stated that a formal recommendation was being forwarded to DFO Adilabad and Conservator of Forests (CF-FDPT), requesting immediate release of compensation of Rs 10 lakh under the Human-Wildlife Conflict Relief Scheme. Key documents such as death certificate, FIR copy, post-mortem report and dependent certificate from the MRO Office were being collected on priority.

The Forest officials intensified awareness campaigns in all fringe villages, urging local residents to avoid venturing into forest areas unless absolutely necessary. The department emphasised that wildlife habitats were unpredictable, and any unfortunate encounter or attack can lead to deaths of humans. Its staff was sensitising the villagers through meetings and loudspeaker announcements.

On May 26 evening, Laxman (35) was killed on the spot when the boar attacked him while he was relieving himself. He along with his wife were on their way to Rajuluguda at the time of the incident.
