Mancherial: A forest beat officer was placed under suspension for dereliction of duty in Kawal Tiger Reserve. An order to this effect was issued on Thursday.

Briefing details of the suspension, KTR Field Director Shantharam told pressmen in Jannaram mandal centre that S Srinivas was suspended for failing to prevent encroachment of forest cover at Kothurupalli forest beat in the reserve.

Shantharam further said tribals had constructed huts in the beat two months ago. The huts were removed by the Forest officials. However, the tribals rebuilt the huts owing to negligence of Srinivas, he said, warning of stern action against officials who neglect protection of the forest and wildlife.
