Vijayawada: Former minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao of the Telugu Desam Party was sent to remand after he was produced before the judge by the virtual mode on Wednesday on the allegation of obstructing police from discharging their duties.
The TDP leader was said to have made false allegations against the ruling YSR Congress Party that the latter was indulging in illegal mining. In fact, the government was levelling the land at Gaddamanugu in G. Konduru mandal of Krishna district under the housing programme for the poor.
Devineni Uma along with a big number of TDP activists staged a demonstration in front of the Konduru police station on Tuesday night and began heated arguments with the police till after midnight after which the police arrested him.
