Karimnagar: BRS Choppadandi in-charge and former MLA Sunke Ravishankar was placed under house arrest by the police at his residence in Gangadhara mandal on Sunday.
Ravishankar, along with other party workers, had planned to stage a dharna at Gangadhara Chowk in protest against the State government’s decision to provide only Rs.12000 per acre instead of the promised Rs.15,000 to farmers under Rythu Bharosa.
As the BRS leader was about to leave the house to the protest venue, the police reached his residence and detained him in the house itself.
Ravishankar wanted the police to register a cheating case against Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for misleading farmers with false promises. The CM should resign from his post and extend an apology to the farming community, he demanded.
Commenting on the palabhishekam being performed to CM’s flex boards by Congress workers, he asked for what the palabhishekam was being performed and whether it was for the CM going back on his promises.
