Hyderabad: India thrashed England by 36 runs in the fifth T20 to clinch the series 3-2. Having posted their highest ever total against England with 224/2 with the help of captain Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who opened together, India restricted England in the big run chase despite at one stage Jos Buttler and Dawid Malan looked threatening.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was in for special praise as he picked up two crucial wickets conceding just 15 runs in the high-scoring thriller. Former cricketers had a special mention for the bowler.

“Congratulations boys. hard fought series with Eng I though both teams played some really quality cricket under pressure Specially india coming 2 to 1 down to win it 3 to 2 @imVkohli at his best with @ImRo45 is this our opening pair for the World Cup ? Top spell @BhuviOfficial,” wrote Yuvraj Singh.

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra lauded Bhuveneshwar’s spell. “Bhuvneshwar Kumar back to full fitness…Hardik bowling full quota of overs. SKY and Ishan making the most of their chances. Thakur picking crucial wickets. Not to forget Iyer batting out of position and delivering. Major positives from the series,” he wrote on Twitter.

Former Indian bowler Irfan Pathan wrote, “And how good @BhuviOfficial bowled! Never easy coming back from string of injuries. Credit to him and team management for backing him.”
