Former Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender warns of protests over voter deletions
Former Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender alleged that 20,000 votes had been deleted from the constituency during the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. He accused election officials of colluding with the BJP and demanded action against those allegedly involved.
Hyderabad: Former Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender courted controversy by expressing anger over the alleged mass deletion of votes and warning that the Election Commission (EC) office and Hyderabad could be set ablaze if the poll panel did not mend its ways. He made the comments while participating in road works in the Himayathnagar division on Thursday.
The Congress has been raising concerns over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. So far, 20,000 votes have been deleted in the Khairatabad constituency, and this was the reason the Congress had been conducting campaigns over “Vote Chori”, he said while speaking to media persons.
“I will lodge a complaint with the EC. A few AMCs and AROs have colluded with the BJP and are deleting votes. Criminal cases have to be booked against such people,” he demanded.
The entire exercise was being monitored from New Delhi, he alleged. Without the approval of AMCs or AROs, votes were being deleted online, he claimed, describing it as a “big conspiracy”.
