Hyderabad: Former Mayor Mohammed Majid Hussain of the AIMIM is learned to be among the first winners as counting progresses in the first round for the GHMC polls.
Hussain, who was one of the youngest Mayors of Hyderabad, had contested from Mehdipatnam this time. Hussain was first elected as corporator from the Ahmednagar division in the GHMC elections in 2009 and was sworn in as Mayor in January 2012. He succeeded B. Karthika Reddy of the Congress.
Mehdipatnam is where the second lowest voter turnout was recorded on December 1 with 34.41 per cent. An official confirmation of the results is awaited.
