Adilabad: Former Minister Jogu Ramanna demanded the Union Ministry of Heavy Industries to release a statement clarifying that only scrap belonging to the sick Cement Corporation of India (CCI) unit-Adilabad was being sold, not the plant. He was speaking to media persons here on Monday.

Ramanna recalled that they had strived hard to revive the sick unit by calling on the then Union Ministers Hansraj Gangaram Ahir and Ananth Gangaram Geethe in the past. He claimed that they stopped auctioning of the plant in 2022 by conducting meetings with all parties.

Though elected representatives including the MLA and Adilabad MP were from BJP, the CCI was not being reopened, reflecting the inefficiency, he pointed out.

The former Adilabad MLA found fault with local MLA Payal Shankar for not extending compensation to farmers. He recounted that Shankar demanded a compensation of Rs 40 lakh per acre to those who gave lands to a private cement manufacturer in Adilabad. He advised leaders of the BJP to end their unethical politics.

He alleged the local BJP cadres were provoking farmers whose lands were acquired for industries. Earlier, he welcomed Bhagath Naresh from BJP Adilabad II town and Racharla Sharam belonging to the social media wing of the party into BRS.

BRS leaders Ijjagiri Narayana, Ajay, Saleem, Pandla Srinivas, Kumra Raju, Konda Ganesh, Kova Ravi, Nalla Mahender and Mahesh were present.
