Mancherial: Former minister Jogu Ramanna demanded that Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy tender an apology for spreading misinformation against the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP). Responding to the High Court’s verdict on the Justice PC Ghose Commission’s report with regard to KLIP, he, along with Boath MLA Anil Jadhav, addressed media persons here on Thursday.
Ramanna said that Revanth Reddy levelled baseless allegations against the BRS government when two pillars of the ambitious project were damaged. He opined that the HC verdict was a slap in the face of the government. He alleged that the Congress did not provide water to agricultural fields even as the project was brimming with water from the Godavari river.
The former minister remarked that it took two-and-a-half years to realise the greatness of the project, termed as an engineering marvel. He accused the Congress of hatching a conspiracy against the project. He stated that farmers would teach a lesson to the Chief Minister for duping them by delaying Rythu Bharosa benefits.
Ramanna further said that the commission had unilaterally submitted a report without incorporating the opinions of experts. He dubbed the report as one given by the Pradesh Congress Committee. He wanted Revanth Reddy to tender an apology to the people of Telangana for drying up farms and misleading them.
Anil also criticised the Chief Minister for spreading false propaganda against the KLIP. He stated that the HC verdict was an eye-opener for Revanth Reddy and the Congress party. He slammed Revanth Reddy for targeting the BRS party following the damage of the two pillars.
