Hyderabad: In a political turnaround, former Sirpur-Kagaznagar MLA Koneru Konappa has rejoined the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). Konappa, along with his brother and former ZP chairman Koneru Krishna Rao, formally returned to the BRS fold at the party president K Chandrashekhar Rao’s residence in Erravalli on Thursday.
BRS working president KT Rama Rao, senior leaders T Harish Rao and G Jagadish Reddy, welcomed the duo by offering party scarves.
Konappa, who won from BSP in 2014 and later from BRS in 2018, had switched to the ruling Congress in March last year in the presence of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.
However, after publicly criticising the Congress government, he announced his exit and declared himself an independent before returning to BRS. Party leaders said his comeback would strengthen BRS in the erstwhile Adilabad district.
