Former MLA Peddi Sudarshan Reddy was under pressure from Revanth govt: KTR
BRS working president K T Rama Rao alleged that the Congress government harassed former MLA Peddi Sudarshan Reddy and other party leaders. He also criticised the government over BC reservations, irrigation, and its decision to take over Hyderabad Metro Rail
Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao said former Narsampet MLA Peddi Sudarshan Reddy was under pressure from the Revanth Reddy government and stated that some people in the government could not tolerate his criticism. He said the Congress government subjected many BRS leaders including Peddi Sudarshan Reddy to harassment and pressure which could have affected his health.
In response to query during a media conference at Telangana Bhavan on Monday, Rama Rao said Peddi Sudarshan Reddy exposed alleged irregularities in civil supplies and the education department. He said the former MLA also submitted relevant documents and evidence to the Enforcement Directorate and approached the Supreme Court. He said the court relief and guidance received by the BRS came a day after Sudarshan Reddy’s death.
On BC reservations, he rejected Revanth Reddy’s claim that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was responsible for stopping the quota proposal, arguing that the State government’s resolution had no legal force.
Turning to irrigation, the BRS working president accused the government of failing to utilise Godavari River waters despite heavy inflows during July. He stated that water was not being lifted to support farmers and questioned Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy’s understanding of the Kaleshwaram project.
Rama Rao castigated the Congress government over its decision to take over Hyderabad Metro Rail, stating that the move was aimed at benefiting the Chief Minister and his brothers. He claimed the Congress and BJP had opposed the Metro project during the BRS regime and accused the government of repeatedly harassing BRS leaders.
