Hyderabad: A case is registered against former OSD to Endowments Minister Konda Surekha along with five others following a complaint by a 36-year-old businessman, who alleged that he was brutally assaulted with iron rods and sticks and threatened with dire consequences.
The Medipally police registered a ‘zero FIR’, based on the complaint of Gongidi Harikrishna, a real estate businessman from Boduppal. The case was subsequently transferred to the Jubilee Hills police station on grounds of jurisdiction.
According to the police, Harikrishna received a call from Sumanth on July 30, asking him to meet him urgently. Later, Harikrishna, accompanied by his friend Kiran, went to the office of one Ramu at around 9.45 pm.
Harikrishna alleged that Sumanth questioned him over collecting money by using his name. When he denied the allegation, Sumanth allegedly abused him and assaulted him with an iron rod on his hands and legs. The victim further alleged that Sumanth’s associates joined in the assault after he allegedly instigated them to attack the victim.
Harikrishna sustained a fracture to his left hand, bleeding injuries and other injuries, and was initially taken to Gandhi Hospital. He later underwent treatment at hospitals in Chengicherla and Uppal and underwent surgery on August 10.
The complainant said he delayed lodging the complaint as he was undergoing treatment and was allegedly under fear of the suspects.
The police registered a case against Sumanth, Ramu, Prashanth, Arun Kumar Reddy, Karthik, and Mahender Reddy and others. Investigation is going on.
