Rajanna-Sircilla: Congress leaders who quit the party and joined the BRS are feeling the heat with the ruling party resorting to every trick possible to harass them. The latest was the ordeal that former Venkatraopally sarpanch, Burgula Nandaiah, had to go through after he shifted from the Congress to the BRS on March 16.
The very next day, Boinpalli police summoned Nandaiah to the police station seeking an explanation for spreading “false propaganda” on social media on March 17. Though he was unable to walk properly as he had undergone a hip replacement surgery a few weeks ago, police still took him to the police station.
The action was after Nandaiah, along with a few Youth Congress leaders joined the BRS in the presence of former MLA Sunke Ravishankar on March 16. Though 20 Congress activists joined the BRS, some sections of the media reported it as 50. Following this, Congress leaders lodged a complaint with the police against Nandaiah accusing him of spreading false figures on social media. Based on the complaint, police took Nandaiah to the police station on March 17. Knowing about the incident, Ravishankar rushed to the police station and warned to approach the Human Rights Commission if Nandaiah was not released.
On Sunday, BRS working president KT Rama Rao visited Nandaiah’s house in Venkatraopally and enquired about the incident and interacted with Nandaiah and Ravishanker. Rama Rao also spoke to Superintendent of Police Mahesh B Geete over phone and discussed the incident. He assured all support to Nandaiah.
