Hyderabad: Former Sports Authority of Telangana chairman A Venkateshwar Reddy staged a demonstration along with his followers at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium (Uppal) here on Tuesday morning to protest against Sunrisers Hyderabad’s indifference toward promoting cricket in Telangana.
Mr Reddy alleged that while other IPL franchisees were giving opportunities to Telugu-speaking players, SRH had been ignoring talent from Telangana.
“It is disappointing that when all facilities are provided by the State Government for the successful conduct of SRH home games at Uppal Stadium, the owners of SRH have not shown any interest in promoting the game in the State, especially in rural areas,” he said. “Everyone from the CEO to the media manager in SRH is from Tamil Nadu,” he added.
“We appeal to the SRH owners to take corrective measures and give a chance to local talent,” Mr Reddy said.
