Adilabad: Sleuths of a Task Force team seized 480 quintals of Public Distribution System (PDS) being illegally diverted from Telangana to Maharashtra at Neradigonda mandal centre on Saturday night. Two drivers and two others were arrested for their alleged involvement in the crime.
Task Force Inspector E Chandramouli said that the accused were Madaveni Narsaiah belonging to Nalgonda and Bhaskar of Hyderabad and their drivers Madagoni Rakesh and Shivaiah. The four were held when they were transporting the rice grains from Nalgonda to Maharashtra by two trucks, following a tip-off.
During interrogations, Narsaiah confessed to committing the crime to make fast bucks using shortcut means for quite a long time, with the help of Bhaskar. He admitted that they both employed Rakesh and Shivaiah to ship the grains from Nalgonda to Maharashtra. He revealed that they were procuring the rice from beneficiaries through brokers.
The seized rice was handed over to the authorities of the Civil Supplies Department for taking further action against the four. Task Force Inspector SK Tajuddin, trainee Sub-Inspector Rakesh Gurle and team members of the task force took part in the operation.
