Mancherial: In a major jolt to the Congress party ahead of polls to Adilabad Local Authorities Constituency (LAC), four councilors of the grand old party shifted their loyalty towards the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS). They joined the TRS in the presence of Information Technology Minister K T Rama Rao in Hyderabad on Thursday.

The councilors included Ankam Naresh belonging to the 20th ward, Nampalli Madhavi Srinivas of 26th ward, Sriramula Sujatha Mallesh from 15th ward and Banovath Prakash Naik from 7th ward of Mancherial municipality quit the Congress and became members of the TRS party.
Speaking on the occasion, the councilors said that they were attracted to the policies and welfare schemes being implemented by the TRS party. They opined that Telangana was undergoing an unprecedented transformation because of the developmental activities taken up by the government in the past seven years. They added that they would take part in the growth being witnessed in the newly formed state.
Incidentally, neither Congress nor Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) fielded their candidate in the polls to the seat of Adilabad LCA slated for December 10. TRS party’s nominee Dande Vittal and 22 Independents filed nominations.
