Hyderabad: Four members of a family drowned in Manjeera River at Biknoor mandal in Kamareddy district on Saturday morning.

The incident occurred when the family hailing from Setluru village in Bichkunda mandal were crossing the river on foot to visit Chaudamma temple. Police officials said the family members could have failed to notice huge trenches that were dug in the river for mining sand.

These trenches were filled with water due to heavy inflows into the river due to the rain that lashed the area a few days ago. Police retrieved the bodies from the river and handed them over to the relatives after an autopsy at the government hospital.
