Four held for refloating Janashakti outfit in Adilabad

Votti Venkat Reddy, Maila Dileep, Avulapati Himakanth Reddy, Nallaganti Prasanna Raju were apprehended while moving suspiciously in a car during a vehicle check at Chanda (T) village in Adilabad.

Adilabad: Four persons from Andhra Pradesh were arrested for allegedly refloating an outfit of banned Maoists in Kurnool, here on Friday. Four pistols, eight magazines, 18 live rounds, five mobile phones and a car were seized from their possession. Five more accused persons were absconding.

Giving details of the arrests, Superintendent of Police Gaush Alam said that Votti Venkat Reddy, a former member of Janashakti party, Maila Dileep, and Avulapati Himakanth Reddy, all from Sunnipenta village in Nandyal district of Andhra Pradesh, Nallaganti Prasanna Raju belonging to Nakirekal in Nalgonda district were apprehended while moving suspiciously in a car during a vehicle check at Chanda (T) village in Adilabad Rural mandal on Thursday night, following a tip-off.


On being interrogated, Venkat Reddy confessed to committing the crime by taking financial help from Prasanna Raju. He revealed that he was attempting to float the party to take revenge against persons who killed his friend from Suryapet district in the past. He disclosed that they were returning from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh to Andhra Pradesh.

Venkat Reddy further said that he along with Hemakanth Reddy and Dilip visited Varanasi to procure weapons with the help of Bhairav, an employee of a restaurant owned by Dilip. Bairav bought the pistols in Bihar and handed them over to Venkat Reddy.

The superintendent further said that three murders cases, an attempt to murder, two TADA cases and four cases were booked against Venkat Reddy for his alleged involvement in activities of the Janashakti outfit. He added a special team was formed to nab the remaining accused persons.
