Four held for smuggling banned pesticide from Maharashtra to Telangana

Police arrested four persons in Mancherial for allegedly smuggling banned Glyphosate pesticide from Maharashtra into Telangana. Officials seized 210 litres of the pesticide worth Rs 1.99 lakh, along with two motorcycles and a car, during a vehicle inspection

Mancherial: Four persons were arrested on charges of smuggling banned pesticides from Maharashtra at Thandur mandal headquarters on Saturday. Police seized 210 litres of the pesticide worth Rs 1.99 lakh, two motorcycles and a car from the four accused.

DCP A Bhaskar said Gunda Raju, Parvathi Kiran, both from Kagaznagar, Rukum Venkatesh and Palle Ravinder of Venkatapur were apprehended for smuggling Glyphosate by car from Maharashtra to Telangana. The four were detained during a vehicle check. They were procuring the pesticide from neighbouring Maharashtra and were planning to sell it in Mancherial district. They disclosed that they were transporting the pesticide on two-wheelers for distribution.
