Hyderabad: The Chilkalguda police investigating into the alleged gang rape case of two sisters at the Gandhi Hospital have reportedly arrested four persons including a lab technician on Tuesday.

Source said three others who are believed to have been involved are also being questioned.

Meanwhile, efforts of the police teams to trace one of the victims, who had gone missing, continued on Tuesday. A police team visited the hospital and gathered more information. Chilkalguda Inspector G Naresh said the case was being probed from all angles.

“We are scanning footage from CCTV cameras in the hospital for further clues,” he said. Senior officials said it was unclear as to what happened until the victim divulged further details and her sister, another victim in the case, was found. Meanwhile, mild tension prevailed at the Chilkalguda police station when members of women rights organisations and BJP Mahila Morcha protested at the premises. State Women Commission Chairperson Sunitha Lakshma Reddy, who enquired about the details of the case from hospital authorities and police, assured all help to the two sisters.

The complainant had alleged that she and her sister were confined in a room by the lab technician, who drugged them and raped them. While she managed to escape and approach the police, the whereabouts of her sister is yet to be known. The complainant (38) and her sister (40), had come to the hospital for the treatment of her brother-in-law (45), on August 5. He was discharged on August 13 and returned home. The two women had gone missing in between.
