Nizamabad: The Nizamabad police on Monday arrested four persons in separate cases for their alleged involvement in vehicle lifting and mobile theft offences in the district.

In the first case, the police nabbed 21-year-old Odde Srinu, a native of Kolloor village in Banswada mandal in Kamareddy district, for stealing vehicles of farmers parked in agriculture lands, said Police Commissioner KR Nagaraju at a press conference.

He said Srinu was staying at his uncle’s house after the death of his parents when he was eight years old. A few years later, Srinu started assisting his uncle while working as an agriculture labourer. Since he got addicted to vices, Srinu started stealing farmers’ vehicles parked in agriculture lands.

On noticing that farmers were not locking their bikes, Srinu stole the two-wheelers and sold them to meet his expenses. Two years ago, Srinu was sent to jail for stealing bikes. After release from jail in September 2021, he committed the same offences and stole six bikes.

While checking vehicles at Mukbpal crossroads in the district, the police intercepted Srinu while travelling on a stolen bike from Vaddera Colony to Nizamabad.

The police followed the bike and detained him near a temple at Mukbpal crossroads. After being grilled, Srinu admitted that he had stolen six bikes in the district. The police recovered the stolen bikes from Srinu’s possession.

In a separate case, the police arrested three persons on charges of stealing mobile phones from people. The trio – M Vinay Kumar Goud (26), A Nikhil Kumar (24) and M Sai Prasad (24), all natives Nizamabad district were detained at Gunj Market when the police were patrolling the area.

As many as 49 mobile phones and a motorcycle were recovered from the possession of arrested persons.
