Four including three women from Jagtial go missing in Maharashtra floods
Four persons from Jagtial, including three women, went missing after their vehicle was caught in floodwater near Udgir, Maharashtra. While one man escaped, others were swept away amid heavy rains.
Jagtial: Four persons, including three women from Jagtial town, went missing in the Maharashtra floods on Sunday night.
The missing persons were identified as Afrina, Hasina, Samina, and Soheb of TR Nagar. The group had travelled to Maharashtra two days ago to meet a ‘baba’ and reportedly met with an accident while returning.
With heavy rains lashing Maharashtra for the past few days, most water bodies are overflowing. Near Udgir, their vehicle was caught in floodwater around midnight. While Soheb managed to escape, three women and the driver were swept away.
Before being washed away, Afrina, who has young children, made a phone call to her husband Saleem, asking him to take care of the children. Soon after, her phone switched off.
Family members and locals have urged the Telangana government to coordinate with Maharashtra authorities to trace the missing persons and bring them back safely.
