Adilabad: Two youngsters, a woman and a man were arrested for their alleged role in the gang rape of a minor girl at Durganagar in Mavala mandal centre on Monday night. Five mobile phones and three motorbikes were seized from them.

Adilabad DSP L Jeevan Reddy said the two youngsters, a 35-year-old woman and her brother-in-law were apprehended for their involvement in sexual assault and abduction of a 12-year-old girl from Durganagar on Sunday night. The victim was the woman’s neighbour.

On being interrogated, the woman confessed to committing the crime with help of her brother-in-law. She told police officials that she took the girl to a secluded place under the guise of having her company to attend nature’s call in the forests near KRK colony. She then informed about the girl’s presence to two youngsters.

The two youngsters admitted to sexually assaulting the girl by paying Rs 1,200 and Rs 800 respectively to the woman. The man confessed to helping the woman and youngsters in gangraping the girl. The victim returned home and narrated the incident to her mother, who in turn lodged a complaint with the police.

Cases were registered against the four under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) Act, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956. Investigations were taken up. The four were produced before a court and sent to judicial remand.
