Kothagudem: Police arrested four CPI (Maoist) party militia members in the forests of Kurnapalli-Burgupad in Cherla mandal in the district on Monday.
During combing operations by Cherla police and 141 (A) CRPF Coy personnel, a few persons were found planting explosive material on a forest track. The police apprehended them and questioned them, a statement from the police said.
During questioning, they revealed their identity as Kunjam Sanna, of Basaguda in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh State, Sodi Pojje, Vetti Itha and Madivi Raje of Cherla mandal. They were working as naxal militia members for the past one year.
The police recovered 10 gelatin sticks, one detonator, cordex wire and other material from their possession. The arrested were also involved in planting explosives on Tegada-Kaliveru road in September last year.
