Four nabbed for selling fake Apple products in Hyderabad
The Task Force (Central) team nabbed four persons on charges of selling duplicate ‘Apple’ brand products at Jagdish Market in Abid Road and seized material worth Rs 2.4 crore from them
Hyderabad: The Task Force (Central) team raided four mobile stores and nabbed four persons on charges of selling duplicate ‘Apple’ brand products at Jagdish Market, Abid Road on Friday. Officials seized material worth Rs 2.4 crore from them.
The arrested persons are Nimb Singh, Hira Ram, GovindLal Chauhan and Mukesh Jain, all running mobile shops in Jagdish Market and residents of Hyderabad.
Police said that on inspecting the products in the mobile shops, it was found that the owners were illegally procuring and selling duplicate mobile phone accessories of Apple brand by printing and affixing Apple logos and images on the accessories, thus violating Copy Right Act.
“They were selling such products to customers by claiming the duplicate products as genuine and in the process making profits illegally. Preliminary inquiries revealed that the shop owners procured fake items from Mumbai through marketing agents,” officials said.
Officials seized duplicate airpods, USB adaptors, USB power cable, batteries, power banks and back pouches, altogether worth Rs 2.4 crore.
The arrested persons along with seized material were handed over to the Abid Road police for further action.
