Adilabad: Four more members of an inter-state ganja smuggling gang were arrested by a special team of police on Friday. They seized 1.5 kilograms of banned ganja, a van and three mobile phones were seized from their possession.
Briefing details of the arrest to media persons in Talamadugu, Adilabad DSP L Jeevan Reddy said that Gothiram Gurudayal Sable, Gothiram Shubham Sable, Amar Singh Narayana Gothi, all from Buldhana of Maharashtra and Somanth Bika Sable of Belgaum district in Maharashtra were apprehended in the neighboring state for escorting a ganja-laden container which was seized at an inter-state check post at Laxmipur village on September 25.
On being interrogated, the four confessed to committing the crime. They admitted to leading container carrying the contraband substance from Raipur, Sukma and Jagdalpur districts of Chhattisgarh to Malkangiri district of Odisha to Buldhana and Dhule districts of Maharashtra as per instructions of Ashish and Pandith Ji, kingpin of the gang.
Two more accused persons of the gang were still absconding. Two members of the gang were already arrested, while 900 kilograms of ganja worth Rs 2.25 crore was seized from them.
Jeevan Reddy commended Jainath Inspector D Sainath Reddy, Rural Inspector K Phanidhar, Sub-Inspector Muzahid and others for nabbing the four offenders.
