Khammam: A man and his son were killed in a road accident on a main road between Marlapadu and Rayudupalem villages in Vemsoor mandal in the district on Tuesday. The incident occurred when a resident of Kunchaparti village, M Srinivas Reddy (55) was taking his father M Krishna Reddy (70) to hospital at Sathupalli on his motorbike. A mini-truck coming in the opposite direction hit the bike on which they were travelling. They were both killed on the spot.
Following the incident the mini-truck overturned and fell in a roadside agriculture field as its driver lost control of the vehicle. Five persons travelling in the vehicle suffered injuries and they were shifted to Government Area Hospital at Sathupalli for treatment, police said.
In another road incident at Maddelagudem of Karakagudem mandal in Kothagudem district two women of a family were killed while 20 others suffered minor injuries as an auto rickshaw trolley in which they were travelling overturned.
The incident occurred during late night hours of Monday when the victims were going back to their village, Dameratogu of Gundala mandal after paying a visit to a temple at Loddigudem in Allapalli mandal. The deceased were Swarna (30) of Tadvai and Sammakka (40) of Gundala.
