Kothagudem: Chhattisgarh DGP Arun Dev Gautham on Thursday claimed that the mandate of eliminating CPI (Maoist) by March 31, 2026 given by Union Home Minister Amit Shah was achievable much before the deadline.

The security personnel were all determined to work towards achieving that goal, the DGP told the media at Raipur in Chhattisgarh on Thursday while sharing the details of Wednesday’s encounter, in which 27 Maoists including the Maoist party general secretary Namballa Keshav Rao alias Basava Raju, were killed. He said all of the Maoists killed in the encounter were identified.

Eliminating the top leadership would bring down the party order and it would not take much longer for the Maoist party to collapse. Chhattisgarh people made great sacrifices in fighting against the Maoists, he said.

During the last few years, the security vacuum that existed in Bastar region has been filled up and the majority of the region was taken into control by the security forces. There were still some gaps left and they would be filled to end the Maoist movement in the State, the DGP said.

Of the 27 Maoists killed in the encounter, 10 were women while four of the Maoists were from the Telugu States. Besides Keshav Rao of Jiyannapet in Srikakulam district, Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee member Venkat Nageswara Rao alias Jangu Naveen of Prakasam district in AP, computer operator for Keshav Rao, ACM Burra Vivek alias Vivek of Hasanparthy, and Vannada Vijayalakshmi alias Bhumika of Vemulnarva village of Keshampet mandal in Ranga Reddy district were the Telugus killed in the encounter.
