Visakhapatnam: Four students from outside Andhra Pradesh who are in the city to take part in the four day south India level ‘India Skills-2021’ competitions, have tested positive for coronavirus disease.
The students from Kerala, Tamil Naidu, Karnataka and Telangana are accommodated in places like Gajuwaka, Ramnagar, Dwarakanagar and old city’s Bowdara Road and when medical tests were conducted in the wake of Omicron COVID variant, four students aged 19 to 22 years tested COVID positive.
The district authorities then immediately conducted COVID tests for all the 50 others who were moving closely with the four students.
Meanwhile, the district administration has directed the City Special Branch officials to find out the whereabouts of about 30 foreigners who had arrived from South Africa and other countries and conduct tests on them in the wake of reports that Omicron was prevalent in South Africa and adjacent regions.
