Nirmal: A four-year-old girl, who suffered severe burns after accidentally falling into a curry bowl at the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya hostel in Narsapur (G) mandal, died on Saturday.
Police said Shanvika slipped into a bowl containing hot curry at the hostel on October 21 and sustained critical burns. She died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Hyderabad after battling for life for 18 days. Her body was brought to Narsapur (G) on Saturday evening.
She was the daughter of Divya Sri, an assistant cook at the hostel, while her father, Darmaraju, had migrated to the Gulf for livelihood.
Shanvika had accompanied her mother to the hostel on the day of the incident. She was first rushed to a hospital in Narsapur (G) mandal centre, and later shifted to a private hospital in Hyderabad after her condition worsened. Locals raised funds to support the family due to their weak financial background.
A case was registered based on a complaint lodged by Divya Sri and investigation is underway.
