Hyderabad: Guntas Kaur Sandhu, a fourteen-year-old golfer from Roundglass Golf Academy, became India’s no.1 ranked golfer as per the latest Indian Golf Union (IGU) Ladies Amateur Merit List, following her exceptional performance at the Tamil Nadu Ladies and Girls Championship. Held at the Coimbatore Golf Club from September 22 to 25, 2025, Chandigarh-based Guntas won both the A&B combined category and the B Girls category at the championship.
The Chandigarh golfer showcased exceptional consistency and composure, securing victories in both the A&B Girls combined category and the B Girls category. Her impressive scores of 77-79-74 led to an overall total of 230. In addition to these wins, she also earned a second-place finish in the Ladies and A&B Girls combined category. Rehnoor Malik and Rashi Mishra, also from Roundglass Golf Academy, secured second place in the B category for girls and fifth place in the A category for girls, respectively.
“It’s a great feeling to become India’s no.1 amateur golfer at such a young age. My victory in Coimbatore, which propelled me to the top of the rankings, is a huge motivation to continue my hard work. I am deeply grateful to the coaches and mentors at Roundglass Golf Academy for their guidance and daily support in my improvement. This achievement gives me the confidence to set higher goals and bring pride to my Academy and my country,” Guntas said after her success.
Guntas’s victories in Coimbatore have reinforced her position as one of India’s most promising young golfers and pushed her to the top of women’s amateur golf—an extraordinary feat at just 14. Her rapid rise has made her a standout among the next generation, inspiring aspiring players nationwide with her consistency and composure.
Guntas’ journey also reflects the vision of Roundglass to nurture India’s golfing future. Earlier this month, the Roundglass Golf Academy was launched at Chandigarh Golf Club under Dronacharya Awardee Jaskirat Grewal, with India’s no.1 pro Shubhankar Sharma as brand ambassador, providing coaching and support to young talents like Guntas.
