Hyderabad: The retired manager of a bank was duped of over Rs.5 lakh by cyber fraudsters in the guise of updating the electricity bill payment through Quick Support app.

The victim, who paid his electricity bill online, received a call from an unidentified person claiming to be an executive from the electricity department. He informed the victim that the payment was not updated at the merchant’s end and suggested downloading the app.

Police said, after downloading the app, the victim entered his debit card details and within half-an-hour, he lost money.
