Free clay Ganesh idols distributed across Hyderabad ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi

Government agencies and civic bodies across Hyderabad are distributing free eco-friendly clay Ganesh idols ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi. HMDA, TGSPCB, GHMC, CMC and MMC are collectively distributing lakhs of idols at designated centres across the city and surrounding areas.

Hyderabad: Eco-friendly clay Ganesh idols being distributed free to devotees at designated centres have received an overwhelming response across Hyderabad. Several government agencies, including Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), Telangana State Pollution Control Board (TGSPCB) and three civic bodies, are distributing the idols.

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority has launched a drive to distribute 1.33 lakh clay idols at 34 locations until Sept 13. These include 80,000 eight-inch idols and 53,000 one-foot idols.

Telangana Pollution Control Board has distributed more than 3.26 lakh clay idols through district collectorates and temples. It also held an eco-friendly clay Ganesh idol-making workshop for 108 students from five schools at its Sanathnagar head office.

Three civic bodies have begun distributing three lakh idols. Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation is distributing one lakh idols at parks, ward offices and public places across the city, comprising 70,000 eight-inch idols, 20,000 one-foot idols and 10,000 1.5-foot idols.

Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) and Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC) are distributing one lakh idols each at designated places within their jurisdictions. The idols range from eight inches to 1.5 feet.
