Hyderabad: Freestyle Ballers scored a 69-66 win against 125 INF Battalion in the GM Sampath Kumar Annual League Basketball Championship at YMCA Secunderabad here on Friday.

Freestyle Ballers started well, with Sanjay and Lakshay playing in tandem to score 15 points. 125 INF Battalion was not far behind, as Nagendra and Akram scored 10 points through fast breaks, but Freestyle Ballers led 15-10 at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Freestyle Ballers tightened their defence and restricted the Army outfit to just five points. They, in turn, scored 15 points, including three shots from beyond the arc, and were comfortably placed at 30-15 at half-time.

After the change of ends, 125 INF Battalion started their fightback, playing a fast-paced game and scoring 21 points through Clifton and Nagendra. They restricted Freestyle Ballers to just 16 points to reduce the deficit to 10 points at 46-36 at the end of the third quarter.

In the last quarter, 125 INF Battalion tried hard for a comeback, scoring as many as six three-pointers through Durga Prasad and Narender to reduce the gap to just five points. However, Freestyle Ballers chipped in with baskets at regular intervals through Abhiram and Kinshuk to finally win the match 69-66.
