Udupi (Karnataka): Foreign visitors to India often immerse themselves in its culture, cuisine, and traditions. Some even make the country their second home, contributing to society through acts of service — from promoting cleanliness to improving civic practices. In one heartwarming instance, foreign nationals on an internship left a lasting impact in a small coastal village.

The group, hailing from France, arrived at Kudlu in Kanyana village, located in the Byndoor zone of Udupi district, for a two-month internship. During their stay, they actively engaged with students at the local government school, teaching lessons, conducting interactive activities, and participating in the rural community’s daily life.

As their internship drew to a close, the visitors chose to leave a meaningful contribution rather than just memories. Understanding the school’s pressing needs, they donated a fully functional toilet facility — a much-needed amenity for the students.

The gesture has been widely praised after a video of the event surfaced on social media. Shared by the Instagram account @elkaani, the video shows the interns interacting warmly with children, playing games, and conducting classes. The caption explains how the French nationals spent two months in the Byndoor region, becoming a familiar presence in the school, and addressed one of the institution’s most urgent needs before leaving.

Their thoughtful act has sparked admiration online, with many noting that such contributions go beyond symbolic gestures, directly improving the lives of rural schoolchildren. In areas where infrastructure gaps often hinder education, this small yet significant donation stands as a reminder that kindness knows no borders.
