Hyderabad: With the terms of two Teachers’ and one Graduates’ MLCs from Telangana expiring on March 29 next year, the Election Commission commenced preparations for the upcoming biennial elections. The officials have been instructed to prepare fresh electoral rolls for all three constituencies, with November 1 2024 as qualifying date.
The three MLCs whose terms are expiring are Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad-Karimnagar Graduates’ constituency, Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad-Karimnagar Teachers’ constituency and Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda Teachers’ constituency.
On Tuesday, Chief Electoral Officer C Sudharshan Reddy held a video conference with District Election Officers (DEOs) and Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), outlining the steps needed for conducting the elections to fill regular vacancies in the State Legislative Council. He asked the officials to strictly adhere to the guidelines issued by the ECI in preparing the electoral rolls and complete door-to-door verification by September 30.
As per schedule, the public notice for registration of new electors will be issued on September 30. The first re-publication of notice will be carried out in newspapers on October 16, followed by second re-publication on October 25. The last date of receipt of applications in Form 18 or 19, is November 6. The draft publication of electoral rolls will be on November 23.
Further, the filing of claims and objections will be allowed from November 23 to December 9 and they will be disposed of by Deember 25, to prepare and print supplementary electoral rolls. The final publication of electoral rolls will be on December 30.
