Hyderabad: Mayor G Vijaya Laxmi on Saturday announced that every Friday would be observed as Green Day in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits. Plantation of saplings would be taken up every Friday.
In addition to GHMC staffers, resident welfare associations (RWAs), NGOs and elected representatives would also participate in the event, the GHMC said in a press release.
“From December 3, the programme will commence as part of Haritha Haram initiative started by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. I request all the people to participate in it,” the Mayor said.
Meanwhile, the Mayor asked GHMC engineers in Khairatabad zone to commute on motorcycles and take note of potholes and civic grievances in their respective jurisdictions. The directions were given during a review meeting at the Khairatabad Zonal Office. She also instructed the officials to pace up the Strategic Nala Development Programme (SNDP) works and construction of foot over bridges (FoBs).
