Hyderabad: A young pulmonologist from Hyderabad, Dr M Rajeev, who did his Post Graduation from Osmania Medical College (OMC), is now getting ready to wear the black advocate’s gown, a far cry from the white coat that he is so accustomed to wearing.

Dr M Rajeev has secured 1166 rank in the recent Telangana State Law Common Entrance Test (TS LAWCET)-2025. An active member of Telangana Medical Council, Dr Rajeev says that he just prepared for four to five days before the entrance test.

“I have always been interested in current events. For less than a week, I focused on studying the Indian Constitution, which comprises almost 50 percent of the total questions in LAWCET exam,” he told Telangana Today.

What actually motivated a young doctor to appear for LAWCET?

“Medicine as a profession is undergoing significant change and the relationship between doctor and patient has evolved considerably in the last few years. There is a lack of trust, which is leading to legal hassles. I am hoping that by acquiring legal knowledge, I would be able to empower poor patients, who hardly know anything about their basic rights,” he says.

Dr Rajeev adds, “I want to empower healthcare through legal awareness by blending the knowledge of medicine (White Coat) with the power of law (Black Coat). I aspire to stand for the rights of patients, doctors, and the community, and contribute towards better healthcare policies and justice in medical ethics.”
