Hyderabad: The layout of the land allocated for traders in the proposed fruit market at Koheda will be finalised on October 15, on the auspicious occasion of Dasara. The same day, the operations will be launched at the temporary fruit market being established at Batasingaram.
The fruit market is proposed to be shifted from Gaddiannaram to Koheda to facilitate establishment of a government super speciality hospital on the premises at Gaddiannaram. The logistics park at Batasingaram will be temporarily utilised for operating the fruit market, until the Koheda facility is developed in a full-fledged manner. The new fruit market at Koheda is being developed in about 178 acres with international standards.
Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy along with Home Minister Mohd Mahmood Ali and Education Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy, inspected Victoria Playground (VM Home) at Kothapet and Logistics Park at Batasingaram on Monday, to explore the possibilities of establishing temporary fruit market on either of the sites. The move comes in the wake of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s directions to the Minister to inspect ideal location for relocating the fruit market from Gaddiannaram to other area as requested by the AIMIM legislators in the Assembly. AIMIM MLAs Ahmed bin Abdullah Balala and Jaffar Hussain, TRS MLAs Manchireddy Kishan Reddy and D Sudheer Reddy, accompanied the Ministers.
Speaking on the occasion, Niranjan Reddy said the temporary fruit market will operate from 11 acres site at the logistics park. All facilities including roads, parking and cold storage units have been arranged for the traders to conduct their transactions smoothly. He said the Batasingaram facility was chosen as the Victoria Playgrounds (VM Home) is insufficient for operating the fruit market. “The MLAs from TRS and AIMIM have accompanied us and agreed that the fruit market should be operated from Batasingaram considering the facilities available. The government will ensure that both farmers and traders do not face any difficulty at the new facility,” he said.
The Minister said as the fruit market is close to Outer Ring Road, farmers and traders from any part of the State can easily reach the market. Further, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao will lay foundation stone for the proposed multi-super speciality hospital at Gaddiannaram shortly.
