Hyderabad: From being a bakery spread across 1,200 sq ft in Ameerpet about 30 years back, Country Oven has now become a brand to reckon with. One of Hyderabad’s oldest bakeries, it has been in existence since 1993 and has become the go-to-place for customers from far and wide.
And during the season of Christmas and New Year, Country Oven serves some of the most delicious delicacies ranging from plum cakes to cookies to sweets to plum puddings and brownies to customised cakes. Whether it is to celebrate the birthday or anniversary of your near and dear ones or to celebrate the upcoming festive season, Country Oven has something for everyone.
Founded by Dr Sudhakar Rao Polsani and his wife Ramadevi – who is the brainchild behind the bakery – Country Oven has over three outlets in Hyderabad along with opening its doors to customers in the United States wherein it has four outlets in New York, Virginia and Seattle.
“Our bakery runs on ethos of quality, customer service, value for money and hygiene. We were the first bakery in Hyderabad to come up with the concept of customised cakes for any kind of occasion. In 1998 when digitisation was just picking up, we introduced the concept of e-commerce through our website all over India. We tie up with the top cake shops in each city and deliver cakes and other goodies through our website. In Hyderabad, we provide this through our outlets,” says Hari Prasad Mullapudi, director, Country Oven.
With about 135 employees which includes 10 women employees, the bakery has been innovating and evolving itself with the changing times. It caters to all sections of the society and holds the credit of serving 50-60 kg cakes to high-profile people like NT Rama Rao, PV Narasimha Rao along with providing quality one kg cakes to its regular customers. The in-house chefs can churn out any shape and size of cake in about 4-5 hours and the customer just needs to show the picture of the cake that they desire.
“For Christmas and New Year season we have introduced new items on our menu which includes plum pudding, brownies, gingerbread cookies, hand-made cookies and many authentic Christmas savories,” says Prasad.
If you thought that the place is only about cakes and confectionery, then you are mistaken. The bakery offers a wide variety of sweets along with snacks ranging from sandwiches, puffs and buns to even dry snacks like mixtures among others things. Recently, the company started expanding its wings to include a cozy multi-cuisine restaurant, an ice-cream kiosk and also a florist’s shop.
The pandemic did put a pit-stop in their expansion plans, but now the company is keen to expand its footprint to other parts of Hyderabad through its franchisee model.
