Sangareddy: A family kept the dead body of a man, who died on October 18 in the mortuary for five days, over a land dispute at Tangedupally in Sadasivapet mandal.

According to villagers, the man Siripuram Ramulu (32) hanged himself at his residence on October 18 night. On the following day morning, his body was taken to the government hospital in Sadasivapet for postmortem. The parents of the Ramulu Manaiah and Manemma reportedly transferred 3 acres of land they were holding in the name of their son-in-law Mallesham, the husband of the couple’s only daughter Rajitha. Manaiah and Manemma had three children Ramulu, Naveen and Rajitha.

However, Naveen died a year ago. Since Naveen was already married, his wife demanded a share in the property. To avoid this, the couple transferred the entire land in the name of Mallesham, who was working as a home guard. When Ramulu demanded a share of the land, Mallesham refused to give any share.

Depressed over the same, Ramulu committed suicide. Lakshmi, the wife of Ramulu, was pregnant and she and her kin demanded a share of the property. They refused to perform the final rites unless the land was transferred in Lakshmi’s name. However, Mallesham kept his phone switched off and went absconding. Finally, the police convinced them to perform the final rites on Tuesday, assuring them to do justice to Lakshmi. The probe is on.
