Gadwal: Power supply officials have reportedly initiated disciplinary action against a senior official holding him responsible for frequent power cuts affecting the farming operations in the district.
Sources say Superintending Engineer Tirupathi Rao was placed under suspension, following an agitation by the farmers who complained about power supply disruption affecting the standing crops. The farmers organised a demonstration at Alwalapadu sub station on Wednesday.
Their complaint was that thought there water was released in through the Jurala project, they were unable to irrigate their fields as there were power supply disruptions.
Following this agitation, authorities have ordered an inquiry into the complaint of power disruptions and suspended the SE. The Wanaparthy SE Rajasehkhar was given additional charge of Gadwal, it was said.
