Hyderabad: Intercity bus travel is back on track on many routes across the country due to the seemingly tapering pandemic and Ganesh Chaturthi, falling on Sept 10, according to bus ticketing platform redBus.
Travel between Hyderabad and Bengaluru is the nation’s most sought after bus route, for Ganesh Chaturthi, the company said.
The top six States where redBus is witnessing high demand are Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Karnataka, it said. Hyderabad- Vijayawada, Hyderabad-Visakhapatnam and Vijaywada-Visakhapatnam routes are seeing huge demand, it said.
About seven lakh seats are projected to be booked during the festival period, with Maharashtra and Gujarat witnessing a significant increase in seats booked so far. Bookings peaked 7 days ahead of the festival.
About 63 per cent of the overall bookings are projected to come from smaller cities and towns, signifying increased penetration and digitization across India.
About 2,500 private bus operators and 21 State Transport Corporations are gearing up to cater to the demand for the upcoming festival, by running around 42,000 services, covering 53,600 routes. About 46% of current bookings are for interstate travel, it said in a release.
