Khammam: The Telangana government gives equal importance to all religious faiths and wants people in the State to celebrate all festivals in a grand manner, said Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar.
The Minister along with Mayor P Neeraja, SUDA Chairman B Vijay Kumar, District Collector VP Gautam and Commissioner of Police Vishnu S Warrier flagged off Ganesh immersion procession which passed off peacefully here on Sunday.
Ajay Kumar said that since the State formation, the TRS government was facilitating the celebration of all the festivals by the people in a grand manner.
He appealed to the devotees to celebrate the nine-day Ganesh festival with only clay idols from next year. He said that everyone should take note of dangers posed by Plaster of Paris idols. He appreciated Stambhadri Utsava Samithi for grandly organising the festivities. He also lauded the district administration, police and Municipal Corporation for making elaborate arrangements for the smooth immersion of the idols. He said that on behalf of the Puvvada Foundation, Rs 3 lakh were provided for electricity charges and Rs 60,000 for police permissions for setting up of pandals.
CP Warrier said that tight security arrangements were made and the immersion procession was under continuous monitoring with 180 CCTV cameras in the city. Immersion procession in Wyra, Sathupalli and Khammam rural areas was monitored by the Command Control to which all CCTV cameras were connected.
