Gang involved in cattle theft, mobile shop burglaries held in Telangana

Hyderabad Task Force and Khammam police apprehended a gang allegedly involved in cattle thefts and mobile shop burglaries across Telangana and Madhya Pradesh. Police seized mobile phones, vehicles and Rs 22 lakh in cash and are tracing other suspects linked to the network.

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force (Jubilee Hills) team, along with Khammam police, apprehended a gang allegedly involved in cattle thefts and subsequent shutter-lifting thefts at mobile phone shops, and cracked multiple cases across Telangana and Madhya Pradesh.

Acting on tip-off information, the Task Force apprehended a gang allegedly involved in 13 cattle-theft cases across Telangana and mobile-shop thefts in Khammam and Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh. Police said the stolen mobile phones were allegedly disposed of through an organised network extending to Mumbai and Bangladesh.

During the operation, police seized 15 mobile phones, three four-wheelers, Rs 22 lakh in cash and one number plate. Five persons identified as Md Tabrez (40), Mohd Rafeeq (54), Mohammed Zubair Akthar (30), Mohammed Naveed (24) and P Sai Reddy (35) were involved in cattle thefts.

Police said Tabrez and Rafeeq were involved in both cattle theft and the subsequent operations, while Sai Reddy allegedly supplied Xylazine injections.

Four persons were identified in connection with the mobile phone shop shutter-lifting thefts, including Farahan Shaik (37), Mubeen Shaik (45), Mehboob Shaikh alias Papa (32), and Mohd Zahed Khan alias Raja Bhai (34), all linked to Mumbai.

Three other suspects identified as Abu alias Afzal, Kalu, a native of Mumbai, and Zasim, a native of Bangladesh, are absconding.

Police said the gang operated across State borders, and investigations are continuing to trace other members and recover stolen property.
